Parakh Madan , who joined Anupamaa in March this year to play Diya, has now joined the cast of Bhagya Lakshmi . She will be portraying Aanchal, Neelam’s ( Smita Bansal ) younger sister. Speaking about her character, she says, “Aanchal is independent, strong-headed, and straightforward. She speaks her mind without hesitation, unlike her sister Neelam, who is more cautious about what she says in front of elders.Aanchal has no filters. She is also against Lakshmi ( Aishwarya Khare ) because of the latter’s issues with Neelam. Aanchal is extremely protective of her sister, Neelam. My character will introduce a different shade of grey to the narrative.”Ask her if she is as blunt as her character in real life and she replies, “I genuinely believe no person is purely good or bad; we are all shades of grey. I do connect with Aanchal on some levels. I speak from the heart, but never at the cost of hurting anyone (smiles).”While Parakh looks forward to positive feedback on her character in Bhagya Lakshmi, she also hopes to be recalled for her role in Anupamaa for which she last shot in April. She says, “My track in Anupamaa has been left open-ended. I was shooting about four days a month for the show. Whenever the story shifted to the dance academy, my character would appear. However, since Anupamaa is now in the US and another storyline has developed, my track is currently on hold.”She adds, “I have realised that Anupamaa is a character-driven show where the entire story revolves around whichever character is in focus. Besides, they were extremely transparent about the number of days they needed from me. From the start, they told me it would be a guest appearance, and I would be needed on and off. How could I say no to a show like that? So, no complaints there! They know I have taken up another show. They told me back in April that if I got something else, I could take it up, and they would call me whenever I was needed. I told them I would gladly make time for them.”
