Two other children, who had contracted swine flu, are undergoing treatment in the hospital.
One of them is from Uttar Krishnapur, while the other is from Dudhpatil, both in Cachar district under Barak Valley.
The deceased boy was also from Uttar Krishnapur.
"On May 4, a 15-month-old girl died of swine flu in Hailakandi district, also in Barak Valley.The joint director of health said the department has issued a high alert and initiated an inquiry into the reported spread of the swine flu H1N1 virus .
Paramedical staff and ASHA workers have been instructed to conduct door-to-door survey, he added.
SILCHAR: Another infant died of swine flu at Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) here on Tuesday, less than a week after a 15-month-old girl lost the battle to the deadly virus in Assam's Barak Valley .The deceased infant, identified as Arman Hussain Laskar, was reportedly admitted to SMCH on April 13 after he was detected to be suffering from pneumonia .Further tests at the hospital confirmed that the four-month-old boy was also infected with swine flu.Confirming his death , joint director of health (Cachar) Dr Asutosh Barman said, "The boy died Tuesday morning.
