Bayern Munich 2-0 Wolfsburg: Initial reactions and observations

However, despite securing the win, Bayern Munich ended their final home game of the season on a slightly disappointing note. Bayern Munich seem to turn the last 20 minutes of every game into a chaotic mess riddled with turnovers and ineffective forays up the pitch. Full time: Bayern Munich 2-0 Wolfsburg. Halftime: Bayern Munich lead 2-0. It still looks like a 4-2-3-1, but Bayern Munich have a bunch of new names in the lineup.

Initial reactions and observations

In the first 20 minutes, it looked like this was going to be a good old fashioned BBQ. However, despite securing the win, Bayern Munich ended their final home game of the season on a slightly disappointing note. Only two goals scored and Kim Min-jae appeared to go off injured. This season has not been fun to watch.

Lovro Zvonarek scoring on his debut is a wonderful sight to see. Youngsters like him should’ve gotten more chances earlier in the season, once it became clear that Bayern were not going to catch Leverkusen in the league.

Bayern Munich seem to turn the last 20 minutes of every game into a chaotic mess riddled with turnovers and ineffective forays up the pitch. For a safety-first coach like Tuchel, the team’s game management has left a lot to be desired this season — a major factor in the elimination to Real Madrid as well.

Full time: Bayern Munich 2-0 Wolfsburg.

74’ — Sub: Lots of changes. Kim Min-jae is out injured, while Manuel Neuer, Bryan Zaragoza, and Leon Goretzka are subbed. Daniel Peretz, Matteo Pérez Vinlöf, Matthijs de Ligt, and Konrad Laimer are on.

45’ — The second half is underway!

Halftime: Bayern Munich lead 2-0.

19’— Zaragoza scores, but VAR rules it offside.

13’ — GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Goretzka makes it 2-0!

3’ — GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Lovro Zvonarek makes it 1-0 on his debut! What a moment for the youngster!

Kickoff: We’re underway!

One hour until kickoff: We have lineups! It still looks like a 4-2-3-1, but Bayern Munich have a bunch of new names in the lineup. Bryan Zaragoza finally gets a start, along with Croatian youngster Lovro Zvonarek. Mathys Tel and Thomas Müller appear to be starting up top, with Leon Goretzka and Aleksandar Pavlović in midfield. Dayot Upamecano returns to the XI, with Kim Min-jae next to him. Joshua Kimmich, Alphonso Davies, and Manuel Neuer round out the lineup.

Bayern Munich fans are in a glum mood right now. Even if Harry Kane were to come out and score five goals in nine minutes vs Wolfsburg tonight (unlikely because he’s injured), it wouldn’t be enough to lift the mood of the fanbase after the season effectively ended on Wednesday night.

Still, we’ll keep watching, because it’s out team. Who knows, maybe we’ll see something exciting.

It’s Bayern time.
