Lots of people vape, but one doctor has weighed in on what a standard 600 puff vape actually is

A doctor has weighed in over how many cigarettes is the equivalent of one standard 600 puff vape.

After so many teens and adults decided to try out disposable vapes due to their flavour selection and ability to fit into your pocket on a night out, a doctor on TikTok has come out to fire out warnings that disposable vapes can be seriously hazardous to your health.

Initially sold as a better alternative to smoking cigarettes, the number of people vaping has shot up so much in recent years that it can be hard to walk down the street without striding through a cloud from someone's vape.

Many people opt for disposable vapes which come in various flavours and are meant to be thrown away after being used up.

They might be a healthier alternative to smoking cigarettes, but vapes are not free of health risks and behind the flavours and bright packaging is a health risk many vapers don't know is there.

Taking to TikTok, Dr Onkar Mudhar shot out the warning that smoking a full 600 puff vape was 'equivalent to about 48 to 50 cigarettes'.

He said: "Not only is nicotine in these devices super addictive, it also puts you at risk of developing gum disease, dry mouth, tooth decay and early tooth loss.

"Furthermore, they can also cause bad breath. So try and avoid these at all costs."

Dr Gareth Nye predicted that in 10 years’ time a 'whole generation' of 30-year-olds could be suffering from lung issues.

He warned that the liquid contains nicotine and other harmful substances also found in cigarettes, which mean that while vaping is safer than smoking it's not risk-free.

Dr Nye said there was a 'worrying notion' among younger people that vaping was safe when that was 'simply not true'.

It’s gotten so bad across the world that Australia has started to instal detectors in schools after students as young as 12 were caught vaping on school grounds.

It seems as though having a quick vape in the school toilets has become the new sneaking behind the bike shed for a cigarette (guilty!).

Rishi Sunak has also decided to crack down on it too.
