Dehradun: Police are awaiting the postmortem report before proceeding with any legal action regarding the suicide of a junior doctor . Divesh Garg, 27, a resident of Haryana, ended his life on Friday in his hostel room at a private medical institute in Dehradun due to alleged harassment by a professor over his thesis submission. Garg purportedly injected himself with a lethal chemical, prompting an investigation by the Patel Nagar police, under whose jurisdiction the institute falls.Police station in-charge Inspector Kamal Kumar Kunthi told TOI, “The report will determine the cause of death.No case has been registered yet, as we are waiting for a formal complaint. The body was handed over to the family on Saturday evening,” he said.Meanwhile, speaking under the condition of anonymity, Garg’s classmate said, “The professor in question has harassed other students as well. A few months ago, a female student attempted suicide but survived. The management suppressed that incident. We hope Garg will get justice.”Meanwhile, the institute’s management has filed a complaint with DGP Abhinav Kumar regarding specific social media accounts for purportedly “spreading false and misleading information” about the incident.
