Gangs Of Wasseypur fame Richa Chadha faced a challenge while filming a scene for the much-talked-about web series on Netflix, Heeramandi. She needed to portray drunken dancing authentically.

Initially, she tried drinking gin to get into character, but it didn’t work. Instead of enhancing her performance, alcohol made her movements sluggish.

Richa, who doesn’t drink in real life, attempted it to get the right vibe for the scene. However, after a few takes, she realized it wasn’t helping.

Recently Richa shared her experience of working in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi.

Richa shared, “At first, I just couldn’t nail the drunk dancing. After 30 or 40 takes, I decided to try a bit of gin, thinking it might help. But it backfired. It made things worse. I didn’t want my movements to feel sluggish; I wanted to maintain some grace.”

Eventually, she discovered she could better portray drunkenness without actually drinking.

Richa explained that her cultural background made it easier for her to embody the character’s state without relying on alcohol.

Despite harsh criticism, Heeramandi is doing well on Netflix, trending on top globally.
