Notably, the meeting has been called just a day before Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is out on interim bail by the Supreme Court, has to surrender himself in Tihar Jail in connection with an alleged money laundering case linked to the now-scrapped liquor policy.

The meeting has been called to review and discuss the coalition's future course of actions, keeping in mind its performance in the Lok Sabha elections, sources added.

All chiefs of the opposition alliance, including Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal, former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav and others have been invited to the key meeting.

Soon after the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections concluded on Saturday, the Congress claimed that the INDIA bloc has already crossed the halfway mark of 272 seats and is on course for a tally of over 350 seats in total.

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh also claimed the INDIA bloc is set to sweep the NDA away.

"With six phases of the elections now concluded, voting for 486 seats is over. As the outgoing PM starts figuring out his retirement plans, here’s the round-up of the campaign for the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections: The BJP's fate is all but sealed. It has become clear that they are South mein Saaf, aur North, West, and East mein Half," Ramesh said in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter).

As many as 28 opposition parties have forged a mega alliance under the banner of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) to take on the BJP and defeat it in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
