Lok Sabha elections 2024: 63.37% voter turnout in sixth phase of polling, says EC

The Election Commission on Tuesday unveiled the final voter turnout of the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections. The Election Commission on Tuesday unveiled the final voter turnout of the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections.

As per the ECI, the sixth phase of general elections witnessed a voter turnout of 63.37 per cent across 58 constituencies on May 25.

As per the poll panel, the penultimate phase saw male voter turnout of 61.95 per cent, while 64.95 per cent women voters cast their votes. The third gender turnout stood at 18.67 per cent. Lok Sabha elections full coverage

Talking about statewide voter turnout, West Bengal reported the highest voter turnout of 82.71 per cent. The voter turnout in 14 constituencies across Uttar Pradesh stood at 54.04 per cent.

Delhi recorded a voter turnout of 58.69 per cent, while Haryana recorded a 64.80 per cent polling. Odisha and Jharkhand recorded a voter turnout of 74.45 per cent and 65.39 per cent respectively.

On May 25, the Election Commission had released absolute voter turnout data for all the phases. The poll panel came out with the absolute number of voters on its own a day after the Supreme Court refused to issue directions to it on an NGO's plea for uploading polling booth-wise voter turnout data on its website. Referring to the apprehension expressed by some opposition parties that the turnout data can be fudged, the poll panel said the process of collection and storage of the votes polled is rigorous, transparent and participative.

The entire exercise of releasing the turnout data from the date of commencement of the Lok Sabha polls on April 19 has been "accurate, consistent and in accordance with election laws and without any discrepancy whatsoever", the poll panel said.

It said the voter turnout data was always available 24x7 on the facilitative Voter Turnout App from 9:30 am on the polling day in each phase.

The seventh phase of Lok Sabha elections will be held on June 1. The counting of votes will take place on June 4.
