Over the last two years or so, Maruti Suzuki has rapidly been expanding its SUV portfolio as new models such as the Grand Vitara midsize SUV, Fronx compact SUV coupe and Jimny lifestyle off-road SUV have been well received by customers. The largest car producer in the country has clawed back the volumes despite the declining popularity of small cars due to its recent aggressive product strategy.

In the last financial year, the Indo-Japanese brand became the highest-selling UV maker courtesy of the good reception for the new Brezza, Fronx and Grand Vitara while the Ertiga continues to be the best-selling MPV in India. To revive the demand for volume-based small passenger vehicles, Maruti Suzuki has announced a new Dream Edition for its entry-level range ahead of its launch on June 4.

Under the new Dream Edition, the Alto K10, Celerio and S-Presso will be priced at Rs. 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom) a piece. The Celerio’s base price will be reduced by Rs. 38,000 due to this variant as the LXI trim costs Rs. 5.37 lakh (ex-showroom). As for the Alto K10, the Dream Edition sits right in the middle of the LXI and VXI trims considering the prices.

The former costs Rs. 4.84 lakh while the latter is priced at Rs. 5.06 lakh (ex-showroom). The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso Dream Edition is slotted above the base Std, costing Rs. 4.27 lakh, and below the LXI, priced at Rs. 5.02 lakh (ex-showroom). Thus, it will be Rs. 28,000 cheaper than the entry-level model – making it a more attractive choice than ever before.

The Dream Edition is said to arrive based on customer feedback and it will appeal to buyers wanting to own a new small car on a tight budget. The volume numbers of the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, Celerio and S-Presso could go up notably due to this special edition variant.

But the catch is the Dream Edition will have a limited production run and it will be on sale only this month across the country. He noted that the special variant will boast reverse parking security systems and infotainment updates additionally.
