Authorities have issued a high alert and initiated an inquiry into the reported spread of the influenza virus. Well, to stay informed about the severe infection transmission, here are causes, symptoms and prevention tips to be aware of.

Causes of Swine Flu

Swine flu, caused by the H1N1 virus, primarily spreads through respiratory droplets expelled when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Additionally, touching surfaces contaminated with virus and then touching the face can lead to transmisson. Pigs are the main cause of the H1N1 infection, but human-to-human transmission is also common, especially in crowded or enclosed environments.

Signs And Symptoms

Common symptoms include:

Diarrhea

In severe cases, swine flu can lead to pneumonia

Prevention

Vaccination Shots: Annual flu vaccination is the most effective way to prevent swine flu and other influenza strains. Consult your doctor to ensure you receive the appropriate vaccine.
