According to WABetaInfo, the feature was spotted in development in the Android beta "2.24.9.34" version. It is not rolling out to beta testers.
According to the report, the company is working to improve the channels list with a host of new enhancements. The first change is a new entry point to let users create channels via a "Create channel" feature and explore new ones. Moreover, the company is working to add a verified badge within the channels list. This is unavailable in the current version of the app.

Moreover, the company is considering a redesign for the recommended channels section below the channels lists to let users follow and discover more channels. The under-development option will also allow users to select more than one channel at once to let users pin, mute or mark the updates as read.

These UI tweaks are expected to improve the user experience on the app and engage better with channels. The bulk select option in the overflow menu will allow users to manage channels better via means to control notifications of multiple channels, mark multiple updates as read and pin them in the Updates tab.

The verified badge will allow a user to check the list of authentic channels in the app that may be otherwise tough to locate in the presence of identical names and profile images. On a related note, the company is also working to add a 'favourites' category within the chats list.
Meanwhile, Meta is also working to introduce a status reaction feature on Android and iOS. It will allow users to share quick reactions to the status of contacts. Moreover, the platform continues to develop a video message-forwarding feature. You can read more on this here.
