A report by WA Beta Info says that WhatsApp is ready to give you more control over who can view your Status Updates. The instant messaging app is experimenting with new tools aimed at allowing users to decide exactly who can view their shared content. This development comes with the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.10.10.75 update, now available on the TestFlight app.

With this update, WhatsApp is rolling out an audience control feature for status updates. A screenshot shared by the publication showed that beta testers can now access a new audience selector when sharing images and videos through status updates. This feature prompts users to review their audience before posting, ensuring their content reaches the intended recipients.

Before sharing images and videos via status updates, users will have the option to change their audience by selecting their favourite contacts. This enhancement gives users greater control over their sharing experience, allowing them to tailor who can view their updates. By offering this level of customisation, WhatsApp seems to be working on improving user privacy and content management.

Social media apps like Instagram have an option for users to tag others in their posts. And the user who gets tagged is notified of the same instantly. As per the latest reports, WhatsApp is working on a similar feature in which users can mention their contacts in their status updates. Moreover, these mentions will remain private and only the people getting tagged will get to know about it.

This isn't the only feature that WhatsApp is working on in order to give users additional privacy control. WABetaInfo, in an earlier report, had said that WhatsApp was also developing a feature to privately mention contacts in status updates. This feature will let users directly notify specific contacts by mentioning them in their status updates, ensuring that these contacts remain informed and engaged. Although this feature is still in development, new details about it emerged recently. WhatsApp is also reportedly working on a new interface to notify people when they are mentioned in a status update.
