WhatsApp will soon let you create AI-based profile photos, new beta update shows

WhatsApp could soon roll out a new feature that will allow users to create AI-based profile photos. This is in addition to WhatsApp’s existing feature that prevents screenshots of profile photos, further reinforcing user privacy. Besides, it was recently reported that WhatsApp might give users an option to automatically clear the unread message count whenever the app is opened. By enabling this option, users can start fresh with each app launch, free from the clutter of accumulated unread message counts. This means that each time the user opens WhatsApp, any existing unread message notifications will be reset to zero.

WhatsApp could soon roll out a new feature that will allow users to create AI-based profile photos. This move follows the recent addition of AI stickers, marking another step towards improving user experience.

According to WABetaInfo, a trusted source for new WhatsApp features, the Meta-owned platform is currently developing this innovative functionality. Users will soon be able to generate unique profile pictures by providing a description or prompt, allowing the AI to craft a personalised image that mirrors their personality, interests, or mood.

This feature is designed to elevate user interaction and provide a better experience. By enabling AI-generated images, WhatsApp aims to offer users the ability to express themselves more creatively without the need to use their real photos. This not only adds a fun and customizable element to profile pictures but also significantly enhances privacy.

WABetaInfo highlights that this AI-driven approach can help reduce the risks associated with sharing real photos online. Users concerned about privacy will benefit from this feature, as it offers an alternative to sharing actual images, thus mitigating potential misuse or unauthorised sharing. This is in addition to WhatsApp’s existing feature that prevents screenshots of profile photos, further reinforcing user privacy. While the feature is still under development, it is expected to be available in a future update of the app.

By enabling this option, users can start fresh with each app launch, free from the clutter of accumulated unread message counts. This means that each time the user opens WhatsApp, any existing unread message notifications will be reset to zero. The primary goal of this feature is to reduce the visual clutter and the psychological burden of having numerous unread messages, thereby allowing users to focus on new and important communications.
