Xiaomi teases launch of its first-ever Civi phone in India, meanwhile takes a dig at Apple Crush ad

There has been speculation for a while that the company might bring the Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro as Xiaomi 14 Civi to India. The Xiaomi 14 Civi moniker was also spotted on the Mi Code back in March this year. This basically means that the smartphone will join the existing Xiaomi 14 series in India, which currently includes the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Ultra. Fuelling the purported Xiaomi 14 Civi will likely be a 4,700mAh battery, that will come with a 67W fast charging support, as seen on the Xiaomi 14 flagships. Like the Xiaomi 14 and 14 Ultra, the Xiaomi 14 Civi can also be expected to run on Android 14-based Xiaomi HyperOS.

Xiaomi has just shared a new teaser on its official X account, and it is a clear dig at the Apple Crush ad for the iPad Pro. The ad was released right after the Apple iPad launch earlier this month, and it quickly found itself in the middle of a controversy. Apple has to eventually issue an apology for the commercial. The ad showed various creative tools and objects, such as a piano, a camera, and cans of paint, being destroyed by an industrial crusher. At the end of the ad you see the iPad Pro emerge. This offended a lot of people from the creative industry. Apple even had to pull back the ad. Xiaomi is now taking a dig at the same ad suggesting that no creativity was crushed.

These rumours aren’t exactly new.

Xiaomi’s first-ever Civi smartphone in India: What to expect

If the rumours about the Xiaomi 14 Civi being a rebranded Civi 4 Pro are true, then we can expect the smartphone to feature a 6.55-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution. The smartphone’s display will likely support 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. The Xiaomi 14 Civi’s display will also have one of the highlights of the Civi 4 Pro, which is a display with a whopping 3,000nits peak brightness. The smartphone’s display can also be expected to come with 2160Hz PWM Dimming, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.

Powering the Xiaomi 14 Civi will mostly be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, which will be coupled with 12GB of LPPDDR5x RAM and up to 512GB UFS 4.0 storage.

Considering the Xiaomi 14 Civi will be part of the company’s flagship series in India, the device will come with a 50-megapixel primary camera that will continue with the Leica Summilux lens partnership as seen in the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Ultra. The 14 Civi’s rear camera will also include a 12-megapixel Omnivision OV13B10 ultra-wide sensor, and a 50-megapixel 2X telephoto camera. For selfies, the smartphone can be expected to sport a 32-megapixel camera.

Some other expected features on the Xiaomi 14 Civi include an in-display fingerprint sensor, an IR blaster sensor, Hi-Res audio, stereo speakers, and Dolby Atmos support.
