The second bridge, also on the Gandaki River, reportedly over 100 years old from the British era, couldn't withstand the monsoon's heavy rain and collapsed.
In the video, due to the strong water flow, a large hole was formed near the pillar of the bridge, which eroded the bridge's foundation and caused the upper part to collapse into the river.
A two-member team, led by the Sub-Divisional Officer and an engineer from the Flood Department, has been formed to investigate the incident. Saran District Magistrate Aman Sameer stated that the team will be submitting their inputs within 24 hours, and based on the inputs, a detailed report will be sent to the state government.
Similar incidents were reported in districts like Madhubani, Araria, East Champaran, and Kishanganj recently. The bridge collapse incidents have become a big political issue for the opposition in Bihar. All opposition parties have lambasted the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led government for rampant corruption in administration, which led to the collapse of bridges in the state.
