2024 first half is completed and if we take a look at the Box office 1st half, it has been a mixed bag with some blockbusters and box-office failures sprinkled throughout the calendar. 2024 started very well with Salaar running to full houses before Sankranti. During the Sankranti season, Hanuman emerged as a massive blockbuster and delivered bumper profits to everyone involved
Another Sankranti release, Guntur Kaaram also had good recoveries in Andhra Pradesh, and despite below-par word of mouth, it earned decent profits in Andhra Pradesh. Naa Saami Ranga was also a profitable venture for buyers and made some noise at the box office. Out of Sankranti releases, only Saindhav did not work well. After the Sankranti season, Tollywood suffered a lot with most of the films crashing on the opening day itself.
Many films after Sankranti crashed after first the weekend. Only films like Tillu Square and Malayam dubbed films Manjummel Boys and Premalu gave good returns to buyers. Even the elections impacted the Tollywood box office and summer releases saw a weak performance.
The 2024 first half ended with Kalki 2898 AD bringing back the audience to the theatres and it’s running quite well at the box office and is on its way to becoming a hugely successful venture.
