Lok Sabha election 2024 : Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday claimed that currently, 22 Indians have the same money as the population of the remains 70 crore combined.
He claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave these 22 “all the money of banks" and introduced the Goods and Services Tax and demonetisation to help them.
Addressing a joint rally with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav in Uttar Pradesh's Amroha, Gandhi said, “Today, 22 persons have the same money as the 70 crore population of the nation... PM Narendra Modi has given all the money of the banks to them (22 people).
Small-scale businessmen and artisans who can make 'Make In India' a reality, PM Modi brings demonetisation and GST for them..." he added.
In 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP lost the west UP's Amroha.

Gandhi also said the 2024 Lok Sabha polls are a “battle of ideology" with the Opposition's INDIA bloc on one side and the Bharatiya Janata Party on the other.
"While there is the INDIA alliance on one side, there are BJP and RSS on the other. This is a battle of ideology. While the INDIA alliance is trying to save the Constitution and democracy, the BJP and RSS are trying to end the Constitution and democracy," he said.
In 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP lost the west UP's Amroha. Danish Ali, former BSP MP, will be contesting as INDIA bloc's candidate from Amroha.
On this, Akhilesh Yadav, at the rally said, "We can see that Danish Ali will register a historic win here (Amroha). I have always said that the wind from the west will clean away the BJP not only in Uttar Pradesh but across the nation."
In a public rally on Friday (April 19), Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a veiled dig at Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav saying the shooting of the film "do shehzade ki jodi" is on but it has already been rejected by people.
Amroha will go to polls in the second phase on April 26. The counting of votes will be taken up on June 4.
