Madhuri Dixit-Shah Rukh Khan ’s psychological thriller Anjaam completes 30 years today. This was the third movie after Baazigar and Darr in which SRK played the villain. Incidentally, Deepak Tijori was the protagonist of the movie but he had such a small role that it could not be said that he was a hero. All the focus was on Shah Rukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit. That is why even today Anjaam is called a movie without a hero.
Madhuri was not the first choice for Anjaam
Madhuri Dixit was never the first choice for Anjaam. They had first decided on Rekha. But when that did not work, the makers tried to rope in Southern superstar Vijayashanti. However, things did not work out here as well and then it was offered to Madhuri Dixit .

The first movie of SRK and Madhuri
It was the first movie of the two superstars of Bollywood. While SRK was paired multiple times with Juhi Chawla till then, he never got a chance to work with the Dhak Dhak girl who was at that time working more with senior actors like Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff. Fans were eager to see SRK and Maddy romance on the screen however their first outing on the big screen was as enemies.
Gauri Khan contributed as a costume designer
While Shah Rukh Khan was the lead antagonist of Anjaam, his wife Gauri Khan was a part of the costume designing team and designed some of the dresses that were worn by the female lead in the movie.
Shah Rukh Khan led the promotions
Although Deepak Tijori was shown as the husband of Madhuri Dixit he was not made a part of the promotions of Anjaam. It was only SRK who adorned the cassette covers, posters, and ad campaigns in those days. Surprisingly, despite being the topmost actress of that time, the makers used very less pictures of Madhuri for the promotional campaigns.

Too much violence…
The movie did not do as well as expected at the box office despite the fact that SRK and Madhuri were coming together for the first time. According to a few reports Madhuri Dixit had already told the makers that the movie has a lot of violence and hence some such scenes should be edited or else Anjaam will not work. However, they did not pay any heed to her advice and Anjaam turned out to be mediocre at the box office.
