Directed by Siddharth P Malhotra and produced by Aditya Chopra, Maharaj features Junaid, son of superstar Aamir Khan and producer Reena Dutta, in the role of the real-life 19th century social reformer Karsandas Mulji. Aamir revealed on Kapil Sharma’s ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ how his children don’t listen to him. He said Jackie Shroff asked him to help Tiger Shroff when he was about to start his career in the industry but his own children don’t wish to do the same. This was followed by a collective laughter.

Junaid said, “I really liked the story. I really liked Sid sir’s past work. Yash Raj is one of the biggest producers in the country today probably. So I didn’t see any reason not to do it. I had full faith that Sidharth would handle the film since the subject is sensitive. I had full faith that he would handle it with sensitivity and care and make sure that it’s correctly portrayed.”
Junaid said, has known about his aspiration to become an actor for almost a decade. Asked whether he discussed his debut project with his father, he said, “Film ke baare mein itna discussion nahi hua Papa se (I didn’t discuss much about the film with my father)’. It is not his film and he is busy with his work. Sid sir and Adi sir showed him the film. He liked it and had some suggestions. They took some of it and didn’t take the others.”
