Ahmedabad: The city received up to three and a half inches of rain in 24 hours, mainly during Monday night. This was the first substantial rainfall of Monsoon 2024 in the city. The monsoon-like feel in the air is now very evident and increasingly felt. The showers mainly occurred post-midnight and therefore didn’t affect the routine life of citizens. The city remained under dark clouds this morning. According to the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), no underpass was closed, and all the gates of the Vasna barrage on the Sabarmati River were also closed. Two persons were injured in Saraspur based Somnath Nagardas chali due to fall of a neem tree. Trees also fell at Makarba, Andhajan Mandal, Ramdevnagar and Shyamal Char Rasta areas.
