The therapy involves transferring faecal matter from a healthy donor to the recipient’s digestive system to balance gut bacteria.Dr Narasimhaiah Srinivasaiah, senior consultant at Apollo Hospitals and Head of the Apollo Institute of Colorectal Surgery, has collaborated with national and international institutions on this programme. He highlighted the importance of understanding the gut-brain-pelvic floor connection, stating, “What we are is a consequence of what we have inside our guts.” Dr Manish Mattoo, CEO of the Karnataka & Central Region, Apollo Hospitals, added, “The FMT programme is another example of our commitment to providing our patients with the highest quality of healthcare, even in extremely complicated situations.”
