The event is set to feature the introduction of updated 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro models, as well as a new version of the 12.9-inch iPad Air. These devices will be accompanied by the latest versions of the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil.

This launch is significant as it’s one of the most comprehensive updates to Apple’s iPad range in over a year and a half. The iPad Pros are rumoured to feature OLED displays, a shift from the previous generation’s mini-LED screens. This change promises to deliver enhanced visual experiences with superior contrast and brightness levels, akin to those found in the latest iPhones.

Design-wise, the new iPads are said to boast a slimmer profile. The front camera will be repositioned to the landscape edge, catering to the growing trend of video conferencing and content creation. Under the hood, these devices will be powered by the new M3 chip, which is expected to offer significant improvements in performance and efficiency.

However, these upgrades come with a cost. Gurman confirms that prices are likely to rise from the current starting points of $799 for the 11-inch model and $1099 for the 12.9-inch version.

Meanwhile, for users who are looking for a more cost-effective option, Apple is also expected to unveil a new 12.9-inch iPad Air, providing a more affordable alternative without compromising on screen real estate. While the details regarding the processor configuration for the iPad Air remain scarce, speculations are pointing towards either M2 or M3 chips, offering a significant performance boost over the current M1 iteration.

Accompanying these hardware updates are enhancements to Apple's ecosystem of accessories. Notably, reports suggesting the new iPadOS beta code suggests the upcoming Apple Pencil will boast a new squeeze gesture feature, promising greater versatility and functionality for creative tasks. Meanwhile, the revamped Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro is set to blur the lines between tablet and laptop, featuring an aluminium base and an expanded trackpad, further enhancing productivity and user experience.

Additionally, Gurman hints at subsequent updates to the base model iPad and iPad mini later in the year. However, these revisions are expected to be incremental in nature, with the iPad mini likely receiving only a processor upgrade to keep pace with evolving performance standards.
