Suralkar Vikas Kishore, Special Commissioner for Health, BBMP, assured that sufficient measures have been taken in order to control dengue fever in Bengaluru, which is experiencing heavy rainfall. He added that, “Dengue fever is rapidly spreading due to the stagnant water in broken tyres, flower pots and water tanks. Aedes mosquitoes are the ones who spread dengue fever, which breed in stagnant water. They are taking measures to destroy them,” he added, reported Bangalore MirrorOn the other hand, the ASHA workers, doctors and other health officials are reaching out to people through door-to-door surveys to find out cases related to dengue fever.

Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is addressing the Dengue spread across Bengaluru after the city recorded a huge number of dengue cases between May 1 and 13. Among 172 cases, most of them were recorded from one of the city’s major tech corridors, Mahadevapura, which reported 44 cases in the first half of the month. The shocking revelations sparked concerns among the officials in the civic body who decided to attend to the problem as soon as possible to contain the spread.

Suralkar Vikas Kishore, Special Commissioner for Health, BBMP, assured that sufficient measures have been taken in order to control dengue fever in Bengaluru, which is experiencing heavy rainfall. He added that, “Dengue fever is rapidly spreading due to the stagnant water in broken tyres, flower pots and water tanks. Owing to which, it is necessary to take measures for preventing the water stagnation," quoted by a media report.

A total of four teams have been deployed in each ward. They will identify and destroy larvae breeding sites. Aedes mosquitoes are the ones who spread dengue fever, which breed in stagnant water. The officials from the Health Department have identified areas where larvae are breeding. They are taking measures to destroy them,” he added, reported Bangalore Mirror

On the other hand, the ASHA workers, doctors and other health officials are reaching out to people through door-to-door surveys to find out cases related to dengue fever. To raise awareness among residents and to educate them on the issue, the officials are also distributing pamphlets, ensuring that residents must know about preventive measures.

In addition to that, a social media campaign has already been launched to spread awareness among citizens. Meanwhile, awareness processions called Jathas are also being arranged in each ward along with the use of loudspeakers to make the announcement.
