Bengaluru court sends Suraj Revanna to judicial custody till July 18 in sexual abuse case

Suraj Revanna was arrested by the Hassan Police on June 23 following his interrogation at Hassan's cyber station a day prior. The youth had complained to the Director General of Police (DGP) and the Home Minister that Suraj Revanna had engaged in sexual intercourse with him at Gannigada Farm House in Channarayapatna taluk. The young man requested appropriate action, alleging that he and his family were threatened by Suraj Revanna and his close friend Shivakumar of Hanumanahalli village. Notably, on June 21, Shivakumar had also filed a complaint against the young man at Holenarasipur City Police Station. Shivakumar also claimed that the young man had demanded ₹5 crore to avoid filing the allegedly false complaint.

Suraj Revanna was arrested by the Hassan Police on June 23 following his interrogation at Hassan's cyber station a day prior.

A first information report (FIR) was registered against Suraj under Sections 377 (unnatural offences), 342 (illegal detention), 506 (criminal intimidation), 34 (act committed by several persons for a common intention) based on a complaint filed by a youth.

The youth had complained to the Director General of Police (DGP) and the Home Minister that Suraj Revanna had engaged in sexual intercourse with him at Gannigada Farm House in Channarayapatna taluk. The young man requested appropriate action, alleging that he and his family were threatened by Suraj Revanna and his close friend Shivakumar of Hanumanahalli village.

The case was transferred to Holenarseepur Rural Police Station. Accordingly, a statement was obtained from the complainant and an FIR was registered. Subsequently, the DGP transferred the case to Crime Investigation Department (CID).

Notably, on June 21, Shivakumar had also filed a complaint against the young man at Holenarasipur City Police Station. He alleged that the youth had threatened to accuse Revanna of sexual assault if he did not help him find a job. Shivakumar also claimed that the young man had demanded ₹5 crore to avoid filing the allegedly false complaint.
