BJP is the only party with presence in all states, will breach 400 mark: Piyush Goyal

The BJP government will "certainly exceed 400" seats this time, asserted Union Minister Piyush Goyal in an exclusive interview with Network18 Group. Goyal highlighted the "weak" opposition's strategy of resorting to "distasteful" and "controversial" statements to deflect attention from key issues. Goyal pointed out the irony where parties like the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Congress, who are allies in West Bengal, are engaged in conflict elsewhere. “They are friends in West Bengal, but the TMC and Congress are fighting,” he said. Regarding Tamil Nadu, Goyal remarked that the situation mirrors that of Kerala.

Goyal condemned what he termed as the politics of fatwa and appeasement.

"They have no leader, no leadership, no policy, no intent for the country. How will they work with amity and sensitivity? How will they work with amity and sensitivity? In such a situation, the 10-year tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his 50 years of impeccable public life inspire people and assure them that it is only him who can take this country to the world stage," he added.

When questioned about the BJP's prospects in Kerala and Tamil Nadu this election, Goyal expressed confidence that not only will the party make its presence felt in Kerala, but it will also exceed expectations in terms of both seats and vote share. He mentioned that there are two or three constituencies where the BJP is highly competitive and is likely to secure victory in at least one seat.

Regarding Tamil Nadu, Goyal remarked that the situation mirrors that of Kerala. He asserted that the BJP will emerge victorious in at least two constituencies, and is in a strong position to win in four or five others.
