BMC announces water cut in Mumbai: Here are the areas to be affected

In a bid to aid repair works, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has announced complete and partial water cuts across different pockets in the upcoming week. While a 24-hour water cut will be implemented on May 27 in the pockets of P/North (Malad), R/South (Kandivali) and R/Central (Borivali) wards, the civic body will introduce a 16-hour water cut in parts of Andheri and P/South (Goregaon) wards on May 29.

Seeking to eliminate water leakages, the civic body is undertaking replacement of an existing 900-metre diameter water main at Malad’s Marve road. With the work slated to be undertaken from 10 pm on May 27 (Monday) to 10 pm on May 28 (Tuesday), there will be no water supply in the pockets of P/North, R/South and R/Central Wards during the same period.

Meanwhile, in Andheri East, between May 29 and May 30, the civic body will be carrying out the work on cross-connection of newly laid 1,500-mm water main along with the newly laid 1200-mm outlet, which will be replacing the old main.

Following the project, the water levels at the Veravali reservoir will improve, subsequently improving water supply in Andheri, Jogeshwari and Vile Parle as well.

Amidst the civic body aiming to undertake the work between 9 am on May 29 to 1 am on May 30, the civic body will be implementing a water cut of 16 hours in parts of K/East, P/South, K/West wards. Furthermore, some areas will also witness low-pressure supply during the period.

In the light of the water cut, the civic body has urged citizens to use water judiciously.
