Boris Johnson marks 60th birthday with wooden Indian elephants gifted by wife

The United Kingdom's former Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, celebrated his 60th birthday on Wednesday with a special gift from his wife, Carrie Johnson, a set of three elephant sculptures that she installed in the garden. The sculptures are connected to a charity, The Great Elephant Migration, which raises funds through the sale of wooden elephants for projects in India to foster the co-existence of humans and animals. Following that, in the second snap, the wooden elephants can be seen, with a caption that reads, “A very special 60th birthday present, supporting a wonderful charity, @greatelephantmigration." The elephants, as per the charity's website, are made from Lantana camara, one of the world's top invasive weeds. “The beautiful lantana elephants come in four sizes and make themselves at home in all sorts of locations, including gardens, business frontages, estates, and schools," it said.

The elephants, as per the charity's website, are made from Lantana camara, one of the world's top invasive weeds.

“The use of lantana to create the elephants helps remove the weed from protected areas, leaving wildlife more space to roam,” the charity explains.

“The beautiful lantana elephants come in four sizes and make themselves at home in all sorts of locations, including gardens, business frontages, estates, and schools," it said.

"Each elephant has been meticulously created to the highest standard possible using dried lantana camara wrapped around a steel rebar frame and coated with Osmo Oil for protection,” it added.
