BRS scores a point over Revanth Reddy, at last!

For the first time after the Telangana assembly elections in November last, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) which lost power to the Congress, scored a point over chief minister A Revanth Reddy. At the all party meeting held by Revanth Reddy at his chambers in the evening, too, there was suggestions from the opposition leaders to do rethinking on changes. Initially, the state government had planned to unveil the new emblem, Telangana Talli statue and Telangana State song on June 2 as part of the Telangana Formation Day celebrations. “The issue of finalizing the State emblem and Telangana Talli statue will be discussed in the Assembly and a decision will be taken accordingly. I appeal to the people not to fall prey for false campaigns,” Revanth Reddy said.

On Thursday, the chief minister was forced to announce postponement of unveiling of the new state emblem after making changes in the existing emblem designed during the BRS regime and was being used for the last 10 years.

For the last 24 hours, the Revanth Reddy government was subject to heavy trolling on social media and attacks from various sections of people for deciding to remove Kakatiya Thoranam and Charminar from the emblem.

The BRS leaders, too, indulged in fierce criticism against the government and party working president K T Rama Rao even staged a dharna near Charminar in protest against the changes in the emblem.

At the all party meeting held by Revanth Reddy at his chambers in the evening, too, there was suggestions from the opposition leaders to do rethinking on changes.

As a result, the chief minister announced that the unveiling of state emblem and even new Telangana Talli statue would be put off.

Initially, the state government had planned to unveil the new emblem, Telangana Talli statue and Telangana State song on June 2 as part of the Telangana Formation Day celebrations.

He said already, over 500 designs were submitted by different artists from the State and discussions were still in the initial stages, he said at the meeting.

“The issue of finalizing the State emblem and Telangana Talli statue will be discussed in the Assembly and a decision will be taken accordingly. I appeal to the people not to fall prey for false campaigns,” Revanth Reddy said.
