At least two people were killed and more than 21 were injured in a knife attack which took place at a hospital in southwest China on Tuesday (May 7), according to Chinese state media.
"The incident occurred at a local hospital and as of 13:20... more than 10 people have been wounded or killed," stated state news agency Xinhua.
"A knife attack occurred at the Chengnan Hospital in Zhenxiong County, which resulted in two deaths and 21 injuries," said the country's official WeChat account, in a statement.
An online post from Guizhou province television, which cited unnamed authorities, confirmed that two people were killed and 23 others were injured in the attack.
In August 2022, three people were killed and six others injured in a knife attack at a kindergarten in Jiangxi province of southeast China.

The attack happened in Zhenxiong County in southwestern Yunnan province's northeast and the situation is being investigated by the authorities, it stated.
Police arrest suspect in alleged knife attack
In the images published by the state-run news site The Paper, a man was seen pointing a knife at another man in a hospital lobby when the police officers arrived at the scene.
“Multiple videos from the scene also show a suspect being apprehended by police in a [nearby] wellness centre,” reported Guizhou Television.
The Guizhou TV further reported that a suspect has been arrested, however, no official confirmation was made about whether the suspect arrested is the attacker.
"It happened around 11 in the morning... it's still a bit chaotic, they're still determining the numbers," said a local resident, while speaking to The Paper.
Watch: China's Xi Jinping in France: Macron, EU Chief urge China to press Russia over Ukraine The attack, which was termed a “violent incident” by state media Xinhua, took place at a local hospital in Zhenxiong county, reported the news agency, further stating that authorities were collecting more information.
In China, mass violent crime is rare as the country strictly prohibits people from owning firearms, however, there has been a series of stabbings in recent years.
In Yunnan, last August two people were killed and seven others were injured after a man who had a history of mental illness attacked others with a knife.
Just a month before that, six people were killed and one suffered injuries in a kindergarten stabbing in Guangdong province, southern China.
In August 2022, three people were killed and six others injured in a knife attack at a kindergarten in Jiangxi province of southeast China.
