Christopher Nkunku back in partial training as Chelsea injury list shrinks to just seven (7)!

“With Nkunku it is about assessing him day by day and in the last few days he has had the possibility to be involved in some part of the training sessions. Now we need to see the reaction of his body and then how he is going to evolve. The five still out include Reece James, Wesley Fofana, Levi Colwill, Roméo Lavia, and Lesley Ugochukwu. We may yet see Colwill and James this season at some point, too, though obviously the focus should be to get everybody ready for next season. Enzo Fernández, Axel Disasi, and Raheem Sterling, who all missed Monday’s game, were back in full training this week.

Christopher Nkunku has been hardly seen all season: after getting injured in pre-season (knee ligament, which required surgery) and then picking up a hamstring injury after a brief return, he’s been restricted to just 400 minutes (10 appearances, 2 starts, 2 goals).

But as we start to close the book on this season, the 26-year-old may yet make an appearance or two, and hopefully be on his way to more regular involvement next season.

Obviously, tomorrow’s FA Cup semifinal against Manchester City comes far too soon for a potential comeback, but Chelsea head into this game with the shortest injury list in living memory: “just” seven players listed on the official website’s rundown, with two of them in partial training (Nkunku and Robert Sánchez). The five still out include Reece James, Wesley Fofana, Levi Colwill, Roméo Lavia, and Lesley Ugochukwu. We may yet see Colwill and James this season at some point, too, though obviously the focus should be to get everybody ready for next season.
