Congress Vs Mamata: Baharampur MP Adhir Ranjan 'Caught Red-Handed' Pushing INDIA Bloc Member, TMC Tweets Video

Lok Sabha Election Schedule:Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 are scheduled to take place in seven phases starting from April 19 to June 1.

A rift in the opposition's bloc surfaced in West Bengal again on Saturday after Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress ( TMC ) alleged that Congress's Bahrampur MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury pushed its member. The TMC also shared the video of the alleged aggression by the Congress MP.

The TMC in one of its tweets said, "In broad daylight, this Congress MP was caught red-handed, violently pushing our party worker. And guess what? The CCTV footage has recorded this shameful act for all to see. Is this the kind of leadership Baharampur deserves? SHAME!"

Notably, the TMC and the Congress are members of the opposition's INDIA bloc. However, they contesting the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 separately in West Bengal. In Bahrampur, incumbent MO Chowdhury is contesting against TMC's Yusuf Pathan .

In another tweet, the Mamata Banerjee-led party called it 'sheer hooliganism" by the Congress MP. Your thuggery in Baharampur won't go unnoticed. Your fear of losing elections is pretty evident from your actions. But using muscle power to intimidate our workers won't help you in anyway!" it added. However, Chowdhury has not yet responded to the TMC allegation.

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury Issues Clarification:

Reacting to the video tweeted by the TMC, Chowdhury clarified that when he was retuning after campaigning, a few people came and started chanting 'go back' slogan.

"While I was going home after campaigning, few people came and started chanting 'go back' slogan. When I got out of the car, they started saying that I haven't done anything in the past 5 years," the Congress MP said.

Lok Sabha Elections In Baharampur:

Chowdhury has never lost from Baharmpur since 1999. The constituency is expected to witness a triangular contest from this seat between Chowdhury, Pathan and Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP's) Nirmal Kumar Saha. The voting in Bahrapur is expected to take place in the fifth phase on May 13.

Lok Sabha Election Schedule:

Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 are scheduled to take place in seven phases starting from April 19 to June 1. Votes will be counted on June 4 and on the same day, results will be declared. In West Bengal, the parliamentary polls will be held in all seven phases.

Several opinion polls predicted more seats for the BJP than the TMC.
