Dattaraj Salgaocar: Meet Mukesh Ambani’s brother-in-law who has closely worked with the Board of Control for Cricket in India

We are talking about India's richest person, Mukesh Ambani’s brother-in-law Dattaraj Salgaocar who has worked closely with the Board of Control for Cricket in India.Dattaraj Salgaocar, also known as Raj Salgaocar , is the Chairman of V.M Salgaocar Corporation Private Limited. He is married to Mukesh Ambani's youngest sister Dipti Salgaocar and they have two children together-- Vikram and Isheta.Apart from running his family business, Dattaraj Salgaocar also has keen interests in sports and the arts. So much so that he was also the President of the Goa Cricket Association (GCA) from 1994 to 1997. However, in 2016 Salgaocar and Dempo stepped down from FC Goa's ownership.

In September 2014, ace Indian cricketer Virat Kohli was announced as one of the co-owners of FC Goa along with Salgaocar, Venugopal Dhoot- Chairman of Videocon Industries Ltd, and Shrinivas Dempo- Chairman of the Dempo group. However, in 2016 Salgaocar and Dempo stepped down from FC Goa's ownership. In 2023, TOI reported, "Salgaocar is making a comeback by forming a new club that will make its debut in the Goa Pro League next season (2024-25)."Talking about the arts, Dattaraj Salgaocar founded the Sunaparanta- Goa Centre for the Arts , a not for-profit art foundation, to promote and preserve visual arts, which he runs along with his wife Dipti.While Dattaraj Salgaocar comes from an illustrious business family, he is also 'a qualified production engineer from VJTI, Bombay University, and MBA (Finance) from the acclaimed Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania,' reads his bio on his company's official website. 'He has a brilliant academic record being a Wadia scholar in college and Tata scholar for higher studies,' it further reads.
