So much so that he was also the President of the Goa Cricket Association (GCA) from 1994 to 1997.

However, in 2016 Salgaocar and Dempo stepped down from FC Goa's ownership. In 2023, TOI reported, "Salgaocar is making a comeback by forming a new club that will make its debut in the Goa Pro League next season (2024-25)."Talking about the arts, Dattaraj Salgaocar founded the Sunaparanta- Goa Centre for the Arts , a not for-profit art foundation, to promote and preserve visual arts, which he runs along with his wife Dipti.While Dattaraj Salgaocar comes from an illustrious business family, he is also 'a qualified production engineer from VJTI, Bombay University, and MBA (Finance) from the acclaimed Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania,' reads his bio on his company's official website.
