Deepak Tijori, who is currently promoting his upcoming film Tipppsy, recently spoke about his time in the Hindi film industry in the 1990s and recalled how there was a camaraderie between actors back then. He then shared an anecdote revealing that Saif Ali Khan’s then wife, actor Amrita Singh, had once stopped him from supporting Deepak’s first film as a protagonist Pehla Nasha and that incident “shocked” him.

He shared that for his first film Pehla Nasha, he needed the help of some of his celebrity friends for a cameo. And while Aamir, Shah Rukh Khan and Saif had promised their support, one moment really left him “shocked.” He shared with Zoom, “There was a moment by which I was really surprised… Shah Rukh (Khan), Saif (Ali Khan) and Aamir (Aamir), who were coming. So Saif was getting ready at home, this is his version, when he was getting ready at home, Dingy (Amrita Singh), his then wife, asked him, ‘what are you doing? Where are you going?”

When Saif told Amrita about Deepak’s film, she discouraged him from going. He said, “So, she was like, ‘Really? How can you do this? We never did all these things. Who does this? You go and support somebody on premiere shoot’.” Deepak said that this incident left him shocked because during the 90’s “people were going everywhere to support everybody” in the fraternity and that it’s not been happening for a while now. He said, “But again it’s broken, now for some time we don’t see that happening.” Deepak is known for appearing in films like Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Badshah, among many others. Pehla Nasha, directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, was his first film as a leading man.
