According to PTI sources, 23 IndiGo flights and two SpiceJet flights scheduled to depart from T1 were impacted.The suspension of operations at T1 commenced on Friday (June 28) after the roof collapse incident.
Flights originally scheduled from T1 were redirected to Terminal 2 (T2) and Terminal 3 (T3).SpiceJet flights to and from Delhi between July 1 and 7, 2024, will operate from Terminal 3 at Delhi Airport.Earlier, Delhi airport operator, Delhi International Airport Limited (DAIL) announced that a technical committee was formed had to investigate the roof collapse at Terminal 1, attributing the incident primarily to heavy rainfall.On the morning of June 28, Delhi airport, the country's busiest airport experienced a disaster after a portion of the roof collapse at Terminal 1 collapsed during heavy rainfall, resulting in one fatality.
In response, the government has mandated a thorough investigation and structural assessment of all airports.Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) is operated by a GMR Group-led consortium DIAL, comprises three terminals— T1, T2, and T3 — handling approximately 1,400 flight movements daily.
Following the incident, during a review meeting chaired by Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu, it was decided to establish a 24x7 war room to enhance passenger management efficiency at T2 and T3.
