Royal Challengers Bengaluru are taking on Chennai Super Kings in an electric encounter at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. It is a do-or-die game especially for RCB , who have the opportunity to seal a spot in the playoffs in what can be termed as a spectacular turnaround. This is because the Faf du Plessis-led side lost 7 out of their first 8 games. They have won five games on the trot and can just qualify for the final four if they win tonight. However, after scoring 218 in the first innings, they need to do more than just seal a victory.

RCB now need to win the game against the Men in Yellow in order to gain 14 points and go level on points with them. However, they need to win by a margin of 18 runs, in order to push their net run rate above CSK . Hence, the RCB bowlers have to restrict the opposition batters within 200 to qualify for the playoffs. Even if CSK lose but manage to score 201 or more they will qualify for the last four.

Chennai Super Kings won the toss and opted to bowl in the first innings. RCB got off to a great start scoring 31 in the first three overs courtesy a blazing partnership from Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis. After that, it started raining in Bengaluru after that, as the pitch witnessed some change when the match restarted. The spinners witnessed some grip and turn after that. However, Kohli and du Plessis stayed put as the duo put on 78 runs for the first wicket. While Kohli got out after scoring 48, the RCB captain went on to score a half-century.

After du Plessis got out, Rajat Patidar and Cameron Green played blinders. Patidar scored 43 while Green slammed 38, at strike rates of 178 and 223 respectively. Karthik and Maxwell then went on to play brilliant cameos as they scored 218/5 at the end of 20 overs.
