On May 7, Alia Bhatt dazzled Met Gala attendees in New York in a Sabyasachi saree. Meanwhile, another video of the actor, this time in a red saree, caught several eyes on social media. Shared from an Instagram account called Unifixface, this video featured Bhatt posing for what appeared to be a photo shoot.

India Today Fact Check found this video is a deepfake. Alia Bhatt's face was digitally added over the video of actor Wamiqa Gabbi.
THE REAL VIDEO
A simple reverse search of keyframes from the viral video led us to the verified Instagram account of Wamiqa Gabbi, an actor, who debuted with a small role in the Imtiaz Ali flick “Jab We Met”, and has since worked in movies like “83” and shows like “Jubilee”. The original video of the photo shoot, which did not feature Alia Bhatt, was shared by Gabbi on April 27 with the caption: "Your Premiqa is indeed a Chamkila fan."
A comparison between different keyframes from both videos makes it clear that the Bhatt version is nothing but a deepfake.
We also observed that the Instagram account Unifixface, which shared Bhatt’s video, shares other deepfake videos regularly, usually featuring Alia Bhatt in most of them. While many such deepfake videos often feature hashtags like “AI” or “transition”, most of them do not include the proper context.
It is also noteworthy that the bio of this account mentions that it is for editing works and that the videos are for entertainment purposes only. However, a lack of proper context in posts may leave viewers confused or mistaken.
This is also not the first time Alia Bhatt has been a victim of a deepfake video. In November last year, the actor’s face was incorporated into a video of another woman, making various gestures on camera.
