Veteran actor Farida Jalal opened up about being hurt by Yash Chopra and Karan Johar, who didn’t cast her in their projects despite making it seem like they would. She said that she agreed to do a small role in Dil To Pagal Hai only because Yash Chopra had personally called her up, and said that he wanted their professional relationship to continue. But neither he nor his YRF studio worked with her subsequently. Farida had played a memorable supporting role in the blockbuster film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, but was told that Aditya Chopra doesn’t want her back for Dil To Pagal Hai, even though it wasn’t directed by him.
In an interview with India Today, she also said that Karan Johar knew that she was wronged, and personally called to ask if she’d be open to doing a small role in his film Student of the Year. She said yes, but once again, found herself empty handed later. “I’m very hurt, I’ll say it loud and clear. They were beginners, and we were there to hold their hands. At a certain point, an actor also needs to be held,” she said.

But if you cast somebody else instead of me, it hurts. I didn’t think twice when he made the very big jumla about relationships…” She said that both Yash Chopra and Karan Johar sent video messages for her when she appeared on Farooq Shaikh’s talk show Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai, and she sent each of them a box of chocolates, but it didn’t result in the resumption of their ‘relationship’.
