Rohit Sharma-led India ended the country's wait and lifted the T20 World Cup trophy after a wait of 17 years. The Men in Blue defeated South Africa in the final to win their first ICC title in 11 years. India remained undefeated in the tournament and became the first team to win the title without losing any game en route to the final. The BCCI announced a mega cash prize of Rs 125 crore for Team India.

The players and the coaching staff celebrated the World Cup win in Mumbai. The BCCI handed over the cheque of Rs 125 crore to the team at the Wankhede Stadium. Every member of the 15-member squad will receive Rs 5 crore each while the reserve players will get Rs 1 crore each. Here, we have a look at 4 players who will receive Rs 1 crore as the prize money -

Rinku Singh looked like a confirmed selection in the squad for the ICC event and his absence left many surprised. The selection committee included him in the list of reserve players and he travelled with the team to the USA and West Indies. India didn't need a replacement player during the tournament and Rinku didn't become part of the main team.

He stayed with Team India till the final and celebrated the title win with the players. Rinku, who has returned for the Zimbabwe tour, will receive Rs 1 crore from the BCCI.

Shubman Gill was pipped by Yashasvi Jaiswal in the squad. Yashasvi's strike rate was too high to be ignored and the selectors went ahead with him. Shubman stayed with the team till the USA leg of the tournament and was released before the start of the Super 8 stage.

India changed their opening combination in the T20 WC and even Yashasvi didn't get a game. Virat Kohli was promoted in the batting order and he opened the innings with Rohit Sharma in every match.

Khaleel Ahmed

Khaleel Ahmed came into contention after his performance in IPL 2024, where he scalped 17 wickets in 14 matches for Delhi Capitals. The left-arm pacer didn't make it to the main squad and was included in the list of reserve players. He remained with the team till the final and celebrated the title win in Barbados.

With the regulars returning for the T20 World Cup, Avesh Khan missed out on making it to the T20 World Cup squad. But the right-arm pacer did travel with the team as a reserve player. He was also released from the team after the end of league stage matches. Khaleel and Avesh are part of the team for the Zimbabwe T20I series.
