Hemant Soren declares rebellion against BJP to drive out feudal forces

In the order, the court had said that there was no direct involvement of Mr. Soren in the case as alleged. Attacking the BJP, Mr. Soren asserted that the INDIA (Indian National Developmental, Inclusive Alliance) bloc would uproot the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from power across the country. We will not let our identity be erased at any cost,” Mr. Soren said. The ED had arrested Mr. Soren on January 31, 2024 after questioning him for over seven hours. Mr. Soren then went to Raj Bhavan and resigned from the State’s top post.

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader and former Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who was recently granted bail in the alleged land scam case, on Sunday declared a ‘rebellion’ against ‘feudal forces’.

Referring to the Santhal rebellion of 1855 against British rule decades ago, Mr. Soren said, “On the same lines of rebellion against the British, I declare ‘Hool Vidroh’ to drive out feudal forces not only from Jharkhand but the entire country. This is a day of inspiration for everyone.”

Accompanied by Chief Minister Champai Soren and wife Kalpana Murmu Soren, he was addressing his first rally after being released from the jail.

On Friday, Jharkhand High Court of Justice Rongon Mukhopadhyay granted him bail in the case related to forging land documents of 8.86 acres in the Badgai area of Ranchi.

“There is panic in the BJP camp after my release. BJP leaders are once again ‘conspiring’ against me. I have been implicated in false cases. Central investigative agencies are being used against those who are raising their voice against the wrong policies of the government. Jharkhand is known as the land of revolutionaries and we are not afraid of jail, lathi or hanging,” Mr. Soren said.

“We have been celebrating Hool Diwas for years. Today, on this occasion, taking a pledge, whatever challenges come in the development of the State will be faced with full force. We have to take our rights and answer those who conspire against it. We have to save water, forests and land at any cost because our ancestors had sacrificed for this. We will not let our identity be erased at any cost,” Mr. Soren said.

He also pointed out that in the last four years, he worked hard to bring change in Jharkhand asserting that now the government runs from the village and not from the headquarters.

“Our schemes are implemented on the ground, the benefits of which are being availed by even the last person of the society. The government has also taken many steps in the field of providing employment to the youth. The people of Jharkhand have the first right in the wealth of Jharkhand. The State government is moving forward with this,” Mr. Soren said.

The ED had arrested Mr. Soren on January 31, 2024 after questioning him for over seven hours. Mr. Soren then went to Raj Bhavan and resigned from the State’s top post. Following his resignation, Mr. Champai Soren was elected as the leader of JMM legislative party and on February 5, the new Champai Soren government won the trust with 47 MLAs voting in favour of the motion.
