Afghanistan veteran all-rounder Gulbadin Naib had the internet in splits when he faked an injury during the final Super 8 game against Bangladesh to slow the pace of the game. While Naib’s actions have come under scrutiny, Australian skipper Mitchell Marsh said he laughed at whatever happened on the field.

Gulbadin Naib pulled a classic masterclass during the final Super 8 game against Bangladesh to gain advantage for Afghanistan. With rain showers passing by, AFG coach Jonathan Trott signalled his boys to slow down the game as AFG were winning as per DLS method.

Meanwhile, Naib saw Trott’s signals and without any second thought, he stopped the play by faking a hamstring injury.

While the players walked off the field, the showers stopped and play resumed with Afghanistan sealing a thrilling 8 run victory to not only qualify for the T20 World Cup semi-finals but also oust the mighty Australia from the tournament.

Mitch Marsh's hilarious reaction to Gulbadin's injury

That being said, Gulbadin Naib’s antics gave rise to the spirit of cricket debate as many fans slammed Naib for wrongfully trying to gain an advantage. However, Australian captain Mitchell Marsh had no issues with it.

Reacting to the infamous incident, Marsh said he had tears in his eyes as he laughed so far watching Naib go down.

However, Marsh opined that since Naib’s fake injury had no implications on the game, his team could laugh about it as Afghanistan won on merit. But overall, the incident was extremely funny and outstanding, said Marsh.

With an entertaining end to the Super 8 stage, Afghanistan will play South Africa on June 26 at Trinidad in what will be their first-ever appearance in a T20 World Cup semi-finals.
