ICMR guidelines on sugarcane juice

The ICMR has stated in its guidelines that consuming sugarcane juice may not be beneficial for health, as it contains a high amount of sugar. A 100ml serving of sugarcane juice contains 13-15 grams of sugar and according to experts, adults should not consume more than 30 grams of sugar per day, while children should not exceed 24 grams. The ICMR has also advised against consuming soft drinks, fruit juices, tea, and coffee.

Consuming too much sugar can be a cause of serious problems like obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. Therefore, the ICMR has advised reducing the intake of sugarcane juice as well as soft drinks, fruit juices, tea, and coffee.
