Soon after guiding Team India to an emphatic 23-run win over Zimbabwe, MS Dhoni’s CSK apprentice Ruturaj Gaikwad also jokingly joined the ‘Thala for a Reason’ meme bandwagon by sharing a picture of his T20I cap, numbered 88. Taking to his Instagram account, Gaikwad shared the glimpse of his cap alongside a caption that reads: “I am ahead of the trend”.
Ruturaj Gaikwad is currently in Zimbabwe for India’s five-match T20I series against the hosts at the Harare Sports Club. In the third T20I, the cricketer walloped 49 runs from 28 balls while batting at number four to take India’s total to 182-4 alongside skipper Shubman Gill.
Indian bowlers, primarily ‘Player of the Match’ Washington Sundar and speedsters Avesh Khan and Khaleel Ahmed restricted Zimbabwe to 159-6 to secure a 23-run win for the ‘Men in Blue’.
Ruturaj Gaikwad, along with the rest of his teammates, will now face Zimbabwe in the penultimate match of the tour on July 13.
