The cricketing fraternity is getting ready for the marquee event of T20 World Cup 2024. The USA and West Indies will host the ninth edition of the tournament between June 1 and June 29.

While the fans and authorities get ready for the tournament, the fears of a terrorist attack have been renewed. These fears have struck the preparatory stages of the tournament after a pro-ISIS outlet released a chilling graphic.

The graphic shows a man wearing a hoodie with a gun over his shoulder. The message over the picture read - 'You wait for the matches....' and then in blood red - 'And we wait for you...'

The poster references the Nassau Stadium and the date of June 9, 2024. This is precisely the venue and date when one of the biggest rivalries in cricket—India vs Pakistan—will be staged in the World Cup. The image also has drones and a dynamite with a ticking clock.

ICC assures the security of everyone involved

However, reports suggest that the US authorities have not raised any threat levels following the poster's release. An ICC (International Cricket Council) spokesperson issued a statement: "The safety and security of everyone at the event is our number one priority, and we have a comprehensive and robust security in place.

We work closely with the authorities in our host countries and continually monitor and evaluate the global landscape to ensure appropriate plans are in place to mitigate any risks identified to our event."

The event was rumoured to be under terror threats earlier this month. When the news circulated, the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Keith Rowley, said that though the threats of terrorism in this world are ever-present, they are working at regional and local levels to ensure the security of all the stakeholders during the tournament.
