Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that if the Opposition INDIA bloc gets a majority to form a government following the general election, then the alliance has plans of appointing five Prime Ministers with one PM every year.

“If the INDIA bloc gets a majority to form the Union government for the entire term, it is planning to have five Prime Ministers with one PM each year,” Mr. Modi said while addressing a public gathering in western Maharashtra’s Kolhapur.

‘One year, one PM’

“These people (Congress) who are struggling to win Lok Sabha seats in three digits, can such INDI alliance people even reach the doorstep to form a government? And they are in such a state that they are preparing a formula to have ‘one year, one PM’. If they get an opportunity for five years, then there will be five PMs,” he said targeting the Opposition parties.

The INDIA combine is an alliance of 26 Opposition parties.

Karnataka model

Mr. Modi referred to speculation on an understanding within the Congress to have rotational Chief Ministership in Karnataka between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar for 2.5 years each.

While attacking the Congress, he gave another reference from Karnataka as the party’s pan-India plan. “Muslims were included in Other Backward Class (OBC) list to share 27% reservation... Congress wants to change the Constitution and rob Dalits as well as OBCs of reservation benefits and make them religion-based,” he said.

Referring to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi as shehzada (prince), he once again referred to his earlier wealth distribution statement. “They want to search your wealth and distribute it to those who the party had mentioned as having the first right over the country’s resources. They also want to impose inheritance tax and rob your children of their inheritance.”

The point with regard to inheritance tax was spoken by Sam Pitroda, Chairman, Indian Overseas Congress. Earlier this week, he had clarified that his statement has nothing to do with Congress or as a policy matter.

On Article 370

Mr. Modi also claimed that the Congress wants the special status of Jammu and Kashmir to be restored and would do so, if elected to power at the Centre.

“The Congress manifesto says Article 370 will be restored and CAA [Citizenship (Amendment) Act] will be repealed. Can anyone change Modi’s decisions? And if they do so, do they know what will be the repercussions” he asked.

The Primer Minister also targeted Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), which is part of the INDIA bloc. “DMK is very close to Congress. It is defaming Sanatana Dharma by comparing it with dengue and malaria. INDI alliance invites those who talk about destroying Sanatana Dharma. That low they have stooped to.”
