In a historic first, India is set to have its own pavilion, the India House, at the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games. This initiative, spearheaded by Reliance Foundation in partnership with the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), signifies India's growing presence on the global sporting stage.

The establishment of India House marks a significant step towards bolstering the nation's commitment to the Olympic movement. India's participation in the Olympics dates back to 1920. Over the decades, India has witnessed moments of glory and strived to enhance its sporting infrastructure and athlete training programs.

Located at the heart of the Games' designated "Park of Nations," Parc de la Villette, India House will stand alongside pavilions from other participating countries. The House aims to be a multi-faceted platform serving as a home base for Indian athletes, a hub for fans to connect, and a window into India's rich cultural tapestry for global visitors.

"It is with immense joy and excitement that I am thrilled to announce the first-ever India House at the Paris Olympic Games. The IOC session in India last year, the first in 40 years, was a key milestone in our Olympic journey. And we are delighted to continue this momentum with the launch of India House – a space where we will honour our athletes, celebrate our wins, share our stories, and welcome the world to India," said Nita M Ambani, IOC member and founder and chairperson of Reliance Foundation.

“We truly hope that India House will be one more step towards fulfilling the shared dream of 1.4 billion Indians to bring the Olympic Movement to India!”

India House will offer a diverse range of experiences for visitors. From cultural performances showcasing India's classical and folk dance forms to culinary delights representing the nation's diverse gastronomy, the space promises to be a sensory treat. Visitors can also engage with traditional Indian crafts, yoga sessions, and interact with Indian athletes.

President of the Indian Olympic Association PT Usha said the importance of India House is a testament to India's growth in the global sporting arena.

"The inaugural India House in partnership with Reliance Foundation will be one of the main attractions for Indian fans and athletes at the Paris Olympics. It will also be a great way for fans and people from other countries to know more about India and what makes it so special. India has proven its mettle as a host of major events and India House will reflect the strides we have made as a sporting nation as well as in the Olympic movement. I would like to thank IOC member Nita Ambani for driving this initiative and India’s Olympic Movement."

For Indian athletes, the House offers a comforting space away from home, allowing them to connect with fellow athletes, celebrate victories, and access support systems during the competition. The presence of a dedicated space is anticipated to contribute positively to their overall well-being and performance.

Furthermore, India House will host watch parties for key Indian events in partnership with Viacom18, the official media rights holder for the Olympics in India. This offers a dedicated space for fans to come together and cheer for their nation.

The establishment of India House is seen as a strategic move to promote India's bid to host a future Olympic Games. By showcasing the nation's capabilities in organizing and hosting a global event, India aims to demonstrate its readiness to the International Olympic Committee.
