Indian-origin man of Canada hammer gang arrested for jewellery robberies

Canadian police have arrested three people, including a 20-year-old Indian-origin man, after two jewellery store robberies at two Mississauga malls within two days. The gang behind the robberies, which took place on May 9 and May 10, were armed with hammers.

On May 9, the robbers at the Mississauga mall smashed several display cases and removed a large quantity of jewellery. The suspects escaped using a vehicle previously reported stolen in Toronto.

Peel Police were conducting patrols inside a different Mississauga mall when five suspects targeted another jewellery store.

The robbers, again armed with hammers, replicated the previous day's robbery by smashing display cases and fleeing with valuable items.

Police were able to arrest three robbers, including 20-year-old Indian-origin Tejpal Toor, after a foot chase with mall security.

Peel Police also recovered a stolen vehicle believed to be connected to the crimes.

Tejpal Toor from Toronto, along with the two other suspects, is facing multiple charges, including robbery, wearing a disguise with intent, and possession of property obtained by crime.

All three of these individuals were held for bail hearings.

As the probe is on, the police anticipate the accused could face more charges.
