PM Modi In J&K, International Yoga Day Celebrations Live: Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the International Yoga Day celebration from Srinagar today, asking people to make it a part of their daily routine. The event was initially scheduled to be held on the lawns of the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre on the banks of the Dal Lake but had to be shifted indoors due to incessant rain.

What did the Prime Minister say? Addressing a gathering, PM Modi said that the world sees yoga as a powerful agent for global good as it helps people live in the present without carrying the baggage of the past. “When we are at peace within, we can also make a positive impact on the world… Yoga is making new ways of positive change in the society,” he added.

What is the significance of Modi’s two-day visit? Assembly elections are due in J&K this year and PM Modi’s trip assumes significance in this backdrop. It has not had an Assembly since 2018.
