PBKS, led by stand-in skipper Sam Curran, are coming on the back of three defeats on the trot. Despite a strong bowling effort against Mumbai Indians in their previous game, they conceded 192 runs after opting to field first. Harshal Patel and Sam Curran were the standout bowlers for Punjab, claiming three and two wickets, respectively.
Punjab had come up with different batting options in the top order during the chase but didn't yield results. Later, Ashutosh Sharma played a gritty knock of 61 off a mere 28 deliveries, batting down the order. But it went in vain as Punjab were restricted to 183 in 19.1 overs, losing the game by a margin of nine runs.
GT, on the other hand, are coming off a humiliating defeat against Delhi Capitals. After being put to bat first, the GT batters fell like a pack of cards as they were bowled out for double-digits, 89, marking their lowest-ever total in IPL. The Delhi batters then chase down the target in 53 balls, with six wickets to spare.
Currently, the Shubman Gill-led side are sitting on eighth in the points table with six points from three wins. On the flip side, Punjab are trailing behind them with a total of four points.
