Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will make their on-field return on Sunday (April 5) and square off against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in an away game in Dharamsala. With 5 wins from 10 matches, CSK are at the fifth spot in the IPL 2024 points table and a win here will see them return to the top four.

As CSK are eyeing a return to the top four, Ruturaj Gaikwad is on the cusp of overtaking Sachin Tendulkar and can go past him during the CSK-PBKS fixture. The CSK captain has 2306 runs in 62 IPL matches and he is just 29 runs away from overtaking Sachin.

The Master Blaster finished his IPL career with 2334 runs from 78 matches. Sachin started his IPL career with Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2008 and played for them till his retirement in 2013. Sachin's tally includes one century and 13 half-centuries.

The former MI opener captained the franchise from IPL 2008 to 2011. Under him, MI made it to the final of IPL 2010. Sachin retired from the T20 league after winning the IPL trophy under Rohit Sharma's leadership in 2013.

Ruturaj started his IPL career with CSK in 2019. He stayed on the bench in his maiden IPL season. Ruturaj finally made his IPL debut in 2020. He won the Orange Cap in IPL 2021 and played a key role in CSK's title win.

CSK retained him ahead of the IPL 2022 mega-auction. Ruturaj's consistency with the bat saw MS Dhoni hand him the team's charge ahead of IPL 2024. Ruturaj has big shoes to fill and he has performed decently so far. Ruturaj is 27 and can lead the Yellow Army for at least a decade.

The opening batsman hasn't been named in Team India's T20 World Cup squad but could make a return after the ICC event. He has been an irregular member of Team India since his debut.

Talking of IPL's highest run-scorers, Virat Kohli tops the elite list. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) legend has 7763 runs in 247 matches. He is the only batsman with more than 7000 runs in the T20 league.

Virat is followed by Shikhar Dhawan, who has 6769 runs in 222 matches. Dhawan leads Punjab Kings in IPL. With 6564 runs, David Warner sits at the third spot. He is part of Delhi Capitals. Former Mumbai Indians' captain, Rohit Sharma sits at the fourth spot. He has scored 6537 runs in 254 matches.
