A video of Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni greeting G7 leaders with ‘namaste’, a traditional way of greeting in India, has gone viral on the internet.
Italy is hosting the G7 Summit this year and it is being attended by various global leaders, including US President Joe Biden, United Kingdom’s PM Rishi Sunak and PM Narendra Modi.

Meloni was seen welcoming several leaders at the Summit on June 13. During one such interaction, the Italian PM was seen welcoming European Commission President Ursula Von Der Leyen with a ‘Namaste’, which has gone viral on the internet.
The viral video evoked reactions from netizens. One of the user on X said, "Namaste karna sikh gai (learnt how to do Namaste)."

In the past, the bonhomie between the two prime ministers have created a buzz on the internet and the meme producers will have a lot of content to produce once they meet in Italy.
PM Modi left for Italy on June 13 to attend the G7 summit at the luxurious Borgo Egnazia resort in Apulia region.
The summit, which will be held from June 13 to 15, is expected to focus on pressing global challenges, including the Russia-Ukraine war and the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Ahead of his departure, the Prime Minister's Office released a statement. "At the invitation of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, I am travelling to Apulia region in Italy to participate in the G7 Outreach Summit on 14 June 2024. I am glad that my first visit in the third consecutive term is to Italy for the G-7 Summit...," the statement read.
